Who We Are: Carbolytic Materials Company (CMC) is the first company to successfully produce a reclaimed carbon black alternative suitable for commercial use. Traditional carbon blacks are derived from petroleum, the price of which is skyrocketing in today’s market. ApexCM™ is a high-quality replacement for carbon black derived from recycled rubber products, which benefits the environment and keeps it more cost effective.
History: Carbolytic Materials Company was founded by Raymond Riek and a highly experienced team of scientists and engineers. Their goal was to create a carbon black replacement that was both more cost-effective and more environmentally friendly to produce than traditional carbon black. The current leadership and staff are experienced rubber and plastics industry veterans who are dedicated to offering outstanding customer service and support. CMC’s staff scientists and experts are located in St. Louis, Missouri and Hudson, Ohio.
Staff Size: 7 as of May, 2008. There are 20 to 30 employees projected with the completion of the new manufacturing facility under construction.
Markets Served: ApexCM meets reinforcement and tinting requirements for a variety of markets including:

Applications: ApexCM can replace N700 and N900 series carbon blacks in a wide variety of products. Certain applications that use N500 and N600 may also be able to utilize ApexCM.
