Carbolytic Materials Company Partners with Venture Capital Firm to Build New Manufacturing Facility

Partnerships Make New Maryville Manufacturing Facility a Reality

Maryville, MO (May 28, 2008) – Carbolytic Materials Company (CMC), a carbon black alternative manufacturer located in St. Louis, will be building a new manufacturing facility in Maryville. CMC’s decision to partner with Northwest Missouri State University and the economic opportunity afforded by local and state economic development initiatives has resulted in a business venture that will benefit both private and academic sectors.

The collaboration with Northwest provides CMC with research and development opportunities through the University’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The Innovation Center is a high-technology business incubator with ties to the University’s Graduate Applied Research Center. Together they will focus on developing carbon black technologies that will have a positive impact on the economy and the environment.

“We are very fortunate to have this caliber of company and leadership select Maryville, Missouri as their premier manufacturing location,” stated Lee Langerock, Executive Director- Nodaway County Economic Development. “The investment by Carbolytic Materials Company via Advantage Capital fits community goals to grow companies that are focused on social and environmental improvement. We congratulate the company on both their new R&D facility within Northwest’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the announcement of the manufacturing facility. We look forward to working with the company as a new corporate citizen of Maryville.”

“I am excited that the strong partnership between Northwest Missouri State and CMC continues to bring economic opportunity to Maryville and the surrounding region,” said State Senator Brad Lager. “This new facility will provide high quality jobs that are critical to the economic growth of the region. I appreciate the efforts of CMC, NWMSU, and the Nodaway County Economic Development Team for making this valuable investment in the community.”

The manufacturing facility is being built with funding from federal and state programs including the New Markets Development Program, in association with Advantage Capital Partners and Pulaski Bank of Saint Louis. The New Markets Development Program was conceived to attract businesses and long-term investors to foster financial growth in the state. Advantage Capital Partners is a perfect fit with a core investment strategy focused on growing businesses that are working with federal, state or local economic development efforts.

“Our participation is directly attributable to the Missouri New Markets Development Program,” noted Louis Dubuque, managing director at Advantage Capital Partners. “The Maryville project provides a terrific example of the ways that capital investment can impact an underserved community. We are delighted to foster business growth and job creation while investing in green technology in northwestern Missouri.”
